Digital Brands Group Announces CMO Hire

Laura Dowling Joins Digital Brands Group as Chief Marketing Officer
New Role Focuses on Brand Identity, Creative Strategy, and Tactical Processes

March 6, 2019; Los Angeles, CA -- Digital Brands Group (DBG or the Group), a curated group of digital-first lifestyle brands, today announced the hire of Laura Dowling as Chief Marketing Officer. Dowling comes to DBG with a proven luxury retail marketing track record, who’s practical, game changing solutions have catapulted brands like Coach and Harry Winston to new heights of revenue growth and brand recognition.

Dowling plans to elevate the DBG brand identities and emotional customer connections, launch new and customized communications that leverage the Group’s proprietary data, develop its physical stores and experiences, and introduce our personalized fit and style strategy.

Dowling will focus on DBG’s premium denim brand, DSTLD, first before moving onto its newest portfolio brand, ACE Studios, a luxury performance suiting and sportswear brand.

“I love the point of view DSTLD has already established and think the bones of the brand are so strong; it’s what attracted me to the company in the first place,” says Dowling. “I’m really excited to leverage that; to open up the aperture on the lens into the brand by amplifying the collections with compelling, relevant content that creates a stronger emotional connection between the customer and DSTLD. I also believe that DBG’s digital first portfolio approach and plans to redefine what the customer expects regarding personalized fits and styling will transform retail.”

During her tenure at Coach, Dowling conceived of and executed their inaugural collaboration with Selena Gomez. The campaign was recognized as one of the global brand’s most effective 360 marketing programs, leading to double digit sales growth, an overnight increase in stock price, and established a significant milestone in their continuous pursuit to reposition themselves amongst millennials.

Prior to Coach, Dowling was recruited by Harry Winston’s Chief Executive to develop disruptive strategies to invigorate growth for the high luxury jewelry icon. Her innovative campaigns resulted in substantial incremental sales lifts across multiple categories of the business. Additionally, she spearheaded the streamlining of external partnerships and internal processes, which produced significant operational savings.  Her responsibilities included e-commerce and retail marketing, experiential events, public relations and customer relationship management activities.

Dowling has also held positions at Ralph Lauren, Links of London, Bulgari, and David Yurman.

“Laura is an insightful strategist who balances the creative with the business and operational aspects of marketing; a unique quality that will prove extremely valuable as we redefine what customers can expect from our brands -- strong emotional connections, customized communications, seamless customer experience and personalized fit and style.” says CEO Hil Davis. “We’re extremely excited to have her expertise and energy to lead our team.”
